Why is it that when someone posts an opposing opinion to that of which a certain mod has, he locks the thread. Everyone knows who I am talking about and this is not the first time I've seen it happen. Just because you are a mod does not mean that you are the one that is right. This is the war forum, where people discuss things that may be very touchy and people may have very different opinions on. That is why this forum is here. It is not the "I'm the Mod. I'm always right. I'm gonna lock this thread" forum. So get your head out of your ass and let us have our discussions.
Well it's also in part because there was already a second thread discussing basically the same thing. Although on a level I agree completely.
I smell a lock because you didnt use the holy grail of all buttons....
the "contact us" button

oh yea thats right, i didnt use the contact us button to complain about someone who will never respond to the contact us email
i also smell a lock b.c we're complaining about someone higher up than us and i smell a ban comin to me, but i dont care
It's mostly because the topic is being discussed elsewhere.

the guy posted something thats basically been posted at least 15 times in the past year
oh, and people dont ask the same damn questions 15 times a year? why is it that threads where people ask how do i remove the stock intake get locked? honestly i've seen this happen to other threads where the topic was only being discussed in that thread. it seems that when things dont go a certain persons way, they just lock the thread. F that! This is a public forum for public use. Since when does he have the right to decided what we talk about? Who gives a flying @$# if its been talked about before?! It happens a lot, and those threads dont get locked. I'm done with this thread. I just think its bullsht. Plus this is the war forum. So let it go and get the damn stick out of your ass!
Damn dude dont get your panties in a bunch, it's the interweb chill out.

Calm down. It's a discussion forum, so why re-discuss something that has already been discussed before? Redundency is only going bloat the server more, and that's not something that we need do to Dave.
If the discussion starts going in a different direction than the other thread, then usually it's left alone, if it's going to be a re-hash, then the padlock gets slapped on. JimmyZ is doing that (much as I don't agree with his standard reasoning, I like things wrapped up with no loose ends, when I find them they're usually ignored anyhow), because what was going on in the other thread wasn't new, and it wasn't going in a different direction... the other discussion is on the same page as well. I understand he's vocal about it, and it looks like a power trip when he locks a thread, but it's been done by other mods in this and other forums as well. Forum Moderator account would be the logical thing to use, but it's up to the individual mods' discretion on when to and not to use it.
Granted, it's going to take time to read most of the posts, the pertinent links and other ditritus of the discussion, but, it's worth it to not only figure out what is being said but where the dialogue is at currently.
When performance forum was initially started, it was rife with literally 10-12 individual discussions on how to remove the Intake Tuner Tube, and other common hacks/tips/tricks.

If that didn't explain it enough for you, you are quite welcome to use the "Contact Us" link or email the moderator account to discuss your issue further. The thread in question had become a carbon copy of the long-running debate taking place in another thread so there was no need for it to continue.
To clarify things for everyone: When you use the contact us link, that email
does not go to the moderators. That email goes directly to Dave, and
only to Dave. If you want to contact an individual moderator directly, you can use their registry to email them. If you want to contact all the moderators, including Dave, at once you can use this account's registry as linked in the sig below.
There are several important points in the rule regarding using the contact us link:
Quote:
Lame complaints will be ignored at best. Stupid complaints might put you on a list that you don't want to be on. DO NOT POST MESSAGES IN THE FORUM WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT MODERATOR DECISIONS!
If you used the contact us link to complain about a thread being locked because it was a duplicate of an existing 6-page debate, that may have been looked at as a "lame complaint" and ignored. However, you also disregarded the part where it says "DO NOT POST MESSAGES IN THE FORUM WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT MODERATOR". Please don't do that again in the future.
To contact a moderator, please send a direct message to the moderator account. Please
note you must be logged in to send messages to this account.
Please include a link if you are contacting us regarding a thread.
DO NOT SEND PRIVATE MESSAGES TO THIS ACCOUNT, USE THE LINK ABOVE.
