NEWS FLASH!!!!

Alaskan's find new energy source: PRIDE!

Whatever. This will be another "freedom" fries etc. movement. Easily forgotten once it starts costing $18.00 a cubic meter to heat their places.

The article said the acto of donation was a plot to undermine faith in the U.S. Government...

Um, i hate to burst the bublle here, but the U.S. government has already done a fine job in undermining the faith of the U.S. government. Hugo can't do any better--in fact.

LOL, well said.

I've never been a big fan of Bush, but if he decided to give me a free winter's worth of heat for my home I'd take it, especially if it meant the difference between keeping my kids warm or not. Pride and $2 will get you a cup of coffee. Those wonderful feelings of patriotism will fade as these peoples children start to suffer the effects of cold exposure. Then this story will get re-told as "no toes on Alaskan flag wavers".

Just another thought...

They're in Alaska. The pump oil right out of the ground in their own state. Putting oil companies first over the people who live on the land over the oil is EXACTLY why Hugo became president in his country in the first place.

He has strong social programs that help the poor, funded by forcing more profit sharing from oil companies operating out of his country.. Whether or not you hate Hugo seems to really depend on how poor you are.

There's pretty fair coverage of him on Wikipedia. I'm just now reading it myself...

But do they have refineries to process the crude oil into a usable heating oil in Alaska?

(seriously, do they?)

Brfore you pass judgement on Chavez, have a look at a little documentry calles "The Revolution Wil Not Be Televised"

Chavez has every right to be ticked off with the US. He is loved by his people and has done good things for his country (that's his job). He has not gone out of his way to hurt the US the way the US went way beyond the call of duty to hurt him. He even offered aide to Katrina victoms and stepped up oil exports to the US when they were needed.

Think about it, and watch THIS

There aren't any in Alaska that I know of off hand...

Unless it's simple processing (heavy, medium, light, fuel oil), I can't see it being done on site.
