So what about this Foley guy, huh?
Tuesday, October 03, 2006 8:31 AM on j-body.org
Looks like it coming out that some Republican leaders knew about it from quite some time. This guy was trying to get it on with a male 16-year old, and he's in charge some Exploited Children's committee.

I think it's official that the Republicans have grown TOO corrupt to be in power, just like the Democrats were in the early 90's.

My solution is simple... effective... eliminates all taxes... and provides meaningful entertainment for the masses.

THUNDERDOME!

Yes, but then we have to deal with Tina Turner's sentiat hairdoo. hmm, maybe a thunderdome match should be Tina Turner's hair vs. Alex Trebeck's hair...

Tina Turner was pretty hot for a quintegenarian in that film, she still had awesome legs. There are a lot of things that should have stayed in the 80's, and a lot of the hair-don'ts are but a few.

I just want to see one of these jerk-politicos go toe to toe agains MasterBlaster... That'd be fun. Hell, if all it took was running our cities on pig-sh*t... I'd be all for it.

...kinda brings me into a intresting side point...

Ever notice how when some relatively famous person that could be identified with a social group does something wrong, that people who belong to said social group feel the need to defent the person, rather than ostracize <sp?> him/her? It never made sense to me.

I think a lot of these social groups (political parties, religions, et al) would have a lot more credibility if their members en masse demonized and ostrasized the bad-apple members and gave a general "we don't care who you are, but our group doesn't tolerate that @!#$ and if you do it, you're gone because we don't want you giving us a bad name." rather than a "hey, one of our mouth-pieces @!#$ up again, time to stand behind them like good obedient lemmings".

my $.02.

^^

I agree overall. But conservative voters do have a history of punishing their own that betrays them. I'll give them that. We'll see if it's still the case come November.

Did you just use "Credibility" when discussing a political party?

I think they cover for eachother because they know that THEY'RE ALL GUILTY OF SOMETHING, and want equal support if/when they're caught too.

I wonder how well the government would survive an audit by a major accounting firm, and how many would be establishing a permanent residence in the Caymen islands when that audit started...

I like Gam's idea of Thunderdome, but there'd have to be at least one match per election that the candidates are shot with BB guns by those in attendance.

What I mean is this:

The average joes that subscribe to whatever social group (not limited to political parties) are the ones that are attempting to defend the bad apples--not the other crooks. It's like you'll have botht he dems and the reps on this board staunchly backing whomever is the alleged du jure of their political party.

Me, on the other hand, in my infinite assholiness, would demonize you even if i was shacking up with you. wrong is wrong.

FOX (Rupert Murdoch rather) wouldn't want you thinking the Republicans are to blame.. OH NO!!! All those guys that killed the ports deal as well are all Democrats as well too!!! Golly Gee, they snuck in, took over Congress and Senate and killed that brilliant Bushian piece of legislation that would see your ports' operations and security looked over by Arab firms...

</DRIPPING SARCASM>

I wouldn't doubt that they did that as a "duck and cover" maneuver, or tried to make the other side look bad (Hey, Carl Rove is still in the Whitehouse... this should worry everyone)... It's backfired. The House.Gov and all the rest of the official sites state Mark Foley (R-FL)

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Mark_Foley
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Foley
http://clerk.house.gov/members/electionInfo/Florida_16th/index.html <-- They have the balls to call him "honorable."

well supposably theirs some new evedence or something that the democrats knew about this for awhile but planned not to say anything until the election time came...... I find it funny how its like a not me point the finger thing...but IF they did know about this and didn't do anything about it when they did know i would say that not as sick as what foleys doing but its pretty damn close.

Erecti... errr... Elections are in November, right?

Who gives this any staying power? I figure it'll be lost in a week when the Reps move on to their next abomination.

If the Democrats knew something about it but withheld it, then it makes the whole of Congress once sick, sick joke.

Ok... they already were...but even sicker!

I'd only go with the single pump on sick...

A sick SICK joke would be if the kids @ the conference where Foley denied everything and talked about being molested by priests were directly in front of him, and you heard a quiet zip and wet sounds when he emphatically denied everything.

You get the picture... I'm a sick bastard.

well although it seems wrnog to withold information like that it makes sense.

considering the fact that foley has the incumbency advantage (safe seat) meaning he doesnt have to do anythign and he will get reelected. somethign like %95 of incumbents (people already holding their seat) get reelected no matter what. simply because the stupid american public votes on if they recognize the name or not. and incumbents get the name recognition advantage.

if this was exposed TOO soon and somehow got downplayed or covered up, it would run the risk of having foley stay in office because it wouldtn be fresh in voters minds.

Um... if I knew what I was doing, I'd audit the hell outta them. I don't give two @!#$s or a @!#$ about politics, so they would have a tough chance buying me off.

xWhatever the count is now for ThunderDome
