They must have gotten Al-zarqawi dislodged out of the oil pipelines.

$2.17 here. Labor day was crazy around here though Gas stations had lines out into the streets due to travelers and a couple of them actually ran out of gas. Diesel is still pretty high here though.

Odd that elections are coming up in November. Must be a coincidence. Guess we know who controls the fuel now.

$2.89 Bronx, NY.

it is strange that it goes down now, after there was the problem with BP's pipeline last month. they say there is a surplus, and probably that batch they found in the Gulf of Mexico helped as well

The prices would be down even further if it wasn't for the problems with BP's pipeline. Granted, BP is being investigated for price-fixing as it is, and there are rumors that they are being accused of actually staging the problems with the pipeline to force a shutdown and drive prices even higher.

As for the oil in the Gulf, the only effect that's having right now is to make commodities traders less worried about supply and future dependence on foreign oil. That alone is enough to have a big effect on prices. By the time the surveys, construction and drilling is done to actually get to any of that oil into US refineries, it will be well into 2010.

$2.45 in Essex, MD, $2.53 in Towson, MD.

I'd speculate as to why - I do believe that IL Governor Rod Blagojevich's push for alternative fuels may have something to do with it.
Quote:

Gov. Rod Blagojevich has announced a $1.2 billion plan to invest in ethanol plants, clean coal technology and other renewable fuel efforts. He says the energy produced by this plan could provide half of Illinois' fuel needs by 2017. This would "free consumers from the grip of foreign oil" and "stabilize energy prices." It also would boost the state's corn and coal industries and, the governor says, create 30,000 new jobs.

Basically any time there is serious talk about energy alternatives or more fuel efficiency mandates, oil prices "coincidentally" take a dive. No doubt the idea is that lowering oil prices takes the steam out of the push for alternatives and energy independence - which it always has - but hopefully our leaders are getting wise to this game and will continue to push for alternatives and energy independence.

Of course this phenomenon of dropping pump prices also tends to take place when congress investigates potential oil price fixing too. Fancy that, huh?

I've never heard of this "part throttle" before. Does it just bolt on?

its amazing

but the govnmt is about strictly the almighty dollar. if gas prices go down, they will not spend money for an alternative even if it is the wisest choice.

Just drove past the Kwik Trip today...me and my buddy Pat almost craped ourselves...it was $2.25

We figure if we buy $2000 worth of gasoline, we should be able to turn around and sell it in about 6 months and mabye make double

As for alt. fuels, MN is putting up (i believe) 5-15 new ethanol plants, and the one thats being expanded about 5 miles from my home is going to be the largest producer in the state (woot to corn prices going up).

Im estatic.

And just when America was starting to change its way of thinking on automobiles, the energy crisis, and alternative fuels...

If regular grade drops below two bucks, you know all these soccer moms and execs and people who just need a pthalic symbol are gonna trade in their scions and hybrids for a shiny new SUV. I enjoyed a price drop im my area - 2.49/gal for regular in Reading, PA; but its not going to last if our momentum on change stops. Hell, its not going to last if some douche bag in the Middle East suicide bombs some other douche bag. But this is the way of the world i guess.

Cheaper prices might not last much longer though I seen on the news OPEC said it will keep production the same unless Oil drops below $60 a barrel then they will cut production to raise prices. @!#$ CAMEL @!#$S!!!

if some of you have any sort of memories you'd know that fall is just around the corner. once the summer season is over with people travel less and gas prices drop just like gas prices skyrocketed as soon as vacation season started up. this isnt no goverment conspiracy its something thast been happening as long as i remember wich is a good 10-20 years.

im dissapointed they came down. now people will be all happy and forget about alternative fuels or buying gas efficent cars. we need gas to get up to 5$ a gallon really.
