WOW! WHY would you vote against that? The voting procces needs to be revamped and I think that the democrats are the only ones that will do it, it's on their agenda and not on the republicans agenda. I think we need to do away with the electorial collage too. EVERYONE VOTE!

The only thing every single person from every single walk of life on earth can truly say
they have in common is that their country is run by a bunch of fargin iceholes.
For both BigJ and DaddyZ:
Do either of you honestly belive that EITHER political party will do away with things like the electoral college or do major voting reform when the way it is now secures their powerbase as the two dominant political parties?
If you believe that they will, then i have a nice plot of land just down wind from Cheyrnobyl, Ukraine that i'd love to sell you.
If Washington State is any lesson, BOTH paries will stuff the ballots relentlessly.

Election reform won't happen without revolution...
I hate to take rhetoric from a movie, but the government should abide and be wary of the people, not the other way around.

I understand that both parties want to stay in power by any means necessary, they do so by appeasing their constituents. Unfortunately, I do not believe that either party will do away with the electorial collage but I do believe that democrats will at least attempt some sort of voting reform. Most people and basically all democrats want election reform, so I do believe that democrats will make an attempt. I never claimed that republicans were the only ones doing it, but I do believe that recent elections have been more troublesome than most and mainly because of republicans. The bottom line is that we need election reform and it's not even on the republican agenda, they have had years and haven't even tried to come up with reforms. I am by no means partisan, even though I tend to agree with democrats, I greatly disagree with the them on a few things. They are wrong on welfare, immigration, gun control, the war in Iraq, censorship(both partys), religion in schools and the war on drugs(both partys) among other things. I do believe that the current administration has hurt America severely, not because they are republicans but because they are ideological idiots. I am tempted not to vote democratic because they want to take away my right to defend myself, but I think that if we have another administration like the one we have had for the last two terms it would hurt me more. If a topic is on only one parties agenda and the opposite party has had a chance to fix the problem but didn't, is it not logical to conclude to conclude that the first party will be more likely to try to fix the problem?

No, the democrats won't. If they get elected into power, they'll figure the system works just fine, and it will be the republicans that will harp on about election reform.
Really, things would be a lot weasier if we just did away with political parties, or has an assload of them, rather than 2. At least that way votes would likely be for merit rather than supporting the flawed political agenda du jure.

We pick from 50 contestants for "Miss America", but only 2 for president... Maybe we could have a contest like Survivor, and people call in and "vote off" the morons. Instead of the usuall "stupid human tricks" they have to say what they'd do given a real situation from the current president's term. The winner is president, the runner up is vice president.
Hey, it's not any more or less rediculous than the current or any proposed system.

also at votign both there should be a large sheet with a rundown of all the things each candidate supports or does not support. so then you could MAYBE get less of the lazy bastards that go in with little knowledge and just vote on their side fo the party line no matter what.
btu i agree no political parties for teh win

There is no doubt that the whole system is corrupt, from the top to bottom. If you look at either party you will notice that the higher the office, the more partisan the office holder is. This is because the parties only back politicians that will back their agenda, there are virtually no statesman anymore. I was watching CNN and congressman Ron Paul delivered a speech about both parties being corrupt and the system being broken, very few politicians would admit that their party is corrupt. He spoke about the truth instead of worrying about the impact to his career. In fact, he was elected several times against the will of his own party, I wonder why? It's funny that people who do not agree 100% with their party are often cited as not sticking up for their constituents when in reality most people are really not a hard line conservatives or liberals. At least, I hope not. Either way the two party system is a joke. TWO choices for the "most powerful man in America"?

2 choices, and if the will of the people dictates, Chuck Norris will round-house kick the President into handcuffs in the event of impeachment.

My idea, one word:
THUNDERDOME!

LOL, then we would only have one choice, no one would go against Chuck.

Chuck would be like the judicial branch.
Seriously speaking though... we have about 4 major national parties here in Canuckistan, and it's not helping... The answer is NOT more political parties.
Transeat In Exemplum: Let this stand as the example.
I think there needs to be a party-less system, everyone will be an independent. There could be a TV show that lets them say what their agenda is and the could be voted off until there are two left, then have a normal election. If we keep letting the parties decide who runs we will end up even more partisan in the future. We should also eliminate "soft money" and level the playing field for less wealthy candidates.
