Hey i was wondering if any of you have the refugees from this hurricane living in your city. were i live we have about 2,000 of em living all over our city. As part of the marketing class im in at college we took a bunch of supplies to them to help out and whatever. Anyways when we got in to go drop of these clothes, food, water, etc. and i have to say these people were the most rude @!#$s ive ever met. I know there probably stressed out and depressed but they said @!#$ like "oh great more @!#$ water" and "im not wearing this @!#$". It just pissed me off so bad how we spent hours doing this @!#$ for them and all they did was spit in our faces and ask for more. I just see all over t.v how we need to all get up and help these folks out but in my experience and from what the other college in our area said these people are just being ungrateful. Have any of yall had bad experiences with these people or are the ones youve met polite.

meh...
My folks helped getting some Americans a place to stay when 9/11 happened, and they were really great people. It's trying times that bring up people's real character, I'll say that.
Anyhow.
I've donated $500 to CDN Red Cross (for hurricane relief), and a unit of O neg blood this afternoon.
I may get to do more, but I'd get paid for it, so I wouldn't consider it a donation...

I haven't done anything, but my co workers did at Sunoco Chemical here in LaPorte. They got together and cooked for the 800+ refugees that are staying at the Holiday Inn in Houston off of I-10. I had to work but wish I could've gone.

There is this thread here that I squashed...

The original post is by a guy who related some similar experiences. I posted a lot of counter experiences around the third page. I'm kind of disappointed that so many in the JBO were in such a hurry to conclude the original source's experience as typical and proceeded bashing.
We have about 400 evacuees come here to Fresno. I hope to help. First hand, then I can make my own comments.

Gonzo: Thanks to my Mom!
I've started giving since I was in College, but it was pretty infrequent then... Since the CDN red Cross had to hand over Blood operations to CDN Blood Services, I've been on a call list. Money isn't really that important either.
And, I'm not going down south, we were told our services were not required. I don't know if that's reality or bradavado. Hopefully it's not bravado.
Jack: didn't know about that area. Disasters happen all over the place, if I know about it and can help... fine, if not... I do what I can. I can't speak for anyone else.

No but you can calm down, and re-read what you wrote before you post.
If you're going to make a point that you can be pretty sure is going to meet with criticsm, you would be well served to post a link to a pertinent news article.

Why is anyone argueing over these peoples need for help?

I'm not... I've already given for Katrina, but I'm tapped out right now... I'm helping out for RITA now though. RCMP is collecting to help police officers in hurricane struck areas.
$7800 as of last night.
