I dont believe that he doped. Awefully funny that there were no witnesses or protocol followed during the testing.

Plus, what is the point of bringing it up 6 years later? Is it really going to change anything?

I am a big fan of cycling and i knew about Armstrong before he had cancer, After a 13 year pro career never failing one drug test this happens? Since 1999 he has been tested for drugs more than any pro athlete in the world and never once failed, for them to try to change results after 7 years of competing is just funny to me, this is a total hoax

I really doubt it.. Armstrong has too much integrety to pull any crap. He said that the drug he tested positive (6 of 17 times in 1999) for was part of his cancer therapy in 1996. I would think if it really was detected in his B samples then perhaps it is residule. I don't think it exists at all though considering that it is not in 11 of the 17 samples.

Carl Lewis was supposed to have been clean as a whistle, but he retired before IOC mandatory doping testing came into force. The US also has a greater ability to circumvent tests due to a pharmaceutical technology advantage as well as being consulted about the testing regimen.

Most pro/major amatuer sports have major dopers out there... the good ones just know enough to not get caught.

Alright kids....We all know that the French are pissed. A Frenchman has not won their country's premier event since 1985 when another cycling great Bernard Hinault won it. Im sure they really hate that an American has won 7 years in a row.....better yet..the same guy.

as five-time winner Eddy Merckx of Belgium said, "It's yellow journalism. Between a journalist and the word of Lance, I trust Armstrong."

The fact is, he is an exceptional human being. Even before his bout with cancer, as a child and young adult he was already winning triathalons.

His heart is 1/3 larger than ours, and his lungs are more efficient. He has an abnormally high lactate threshold and has the will. THis man is so mentally strong, you just can't break him. It also helps that he has the best team on the planet. His sponsors, Trek, Discovery, AMD, Nike, etc are smongst some of the largest names in the world, and spare no expense on testing and research to gain that extra second on a stage. Multiplied over the course of the TdF equals 1:00....they make an adjustment like that 3 times and that equals 3:00, a winning margin!

I have so much respect for Lance, what he's dealt with, what he's been through, and the strives he is making to help his fellow man.

No other athlete on this planet can match his mental or physical performance. Period. Also no other athlete on the planet is more testsed than Lance. Leave him be

this is total crap... i just find it amazing that whenever someone is doing good in sports, media has to scream illegal drugs. lance armstrong, sammy sosa, barry bonds, mark mcguire... granted some of them may be innocent but it never ceases to amaze me what the media comes up with.

Now I know that most of you are going to get pissed when I say this but Armstrong could be one of the most heavily doped athletes that ever lived. The things that these guys are on is so far past steroids its not even funny. Most every professional athlete in any form of sport that requires endurance or strength is doped on some level. The more they excel the more likely they are doped. The Olympics isn't even about who's the best athlete anymore, its who has the best doctor.

Up until Armstrong, Carl Lewis was considered the biggest doper to never get caught. Back then it was mostly steroids but they were always one step ahead of the testing. If the even got tested. Even if athletes do get caught results can disappear or get tainted easily so its pointless. Not only that it's bad for business. Would anyone aside from hardcore fans give a crap about cycling if Armstrong wasn't there? They need him and therefore protect him. If people can buy governments it would be stupid to think a drug tester can't be bought. Not only that the people who make the drugs also spend as much time building masking agents.

The stuff these guys are now isn't even a drug half the time. They are almost to the point now where people are genetically engineered. It's also impossible for them to test for things that are so advanced they don't know exist. While Armstrong has been good for a long time, if you look at someone like Barry Bonds who got big and good really fast that late in his career and age you would have to be insane to not realize what is going on. While it is possible for Armstrong to be a genetic freak and the greatest cyclist who ever lived, I think it would be impossible for him to dominate a field of other doped up guys the way he has. Ben Johnson was destroying people in his day cause he had all the right physical attributes to do it, same as Armstrong. Even though he was the fastest man alive by far he would never have been able to be competitive if he was clean cause all his competitors are good and doped. The playing field is leveled because everyone is doped.

No one is beyond the realm of doping no matter how good of a person they may seem. Most of the worlds greatest sports heros are doped, thats how they become great sports heros. They have a genetic gift that gets them in the door and good doctor behind the scenes. Look at Hulk Hogan for instance. A guy successfully marketed as an american hero, who told kids to drink milk and take their vitamins was the biggest wrestling draw ever and the biggest doper.

Bottom line is that just about every professional athlete that excels to the point of total dominance is dirty. To what degree and by what route depends on the sport and cycling is definitely a sport that can benefit from a little tinkering. Sports and society need heros like Armstrong thats what keeps them in business. These people are not interested in destroying heros cause with out them no one cares. I know Armstrong is gifted and to dominate for that long only tells me he has the best doctor to go along with it. I don't consider him a cheater though cause they are all dirty. The field is level even though in an unethical way. Therefore he is still the best.

did he take, epo and steriods, yes, plain and simple

he has never denied that, epo is drug they give to cancer patients, to help raise the red blood cell count

however that was done years before he started the tour

as gonzo stated, and any cyclist will know, lance is tested more than any other athelete alive, and some how, 7 years later 6 of 19 tests are positive, when no one else is there to watch the tests take place? come on

Please, French is a language, France does not represent the view of all french speaking people.

France != French

Jackalope, I have no idea where you get your info... All I can suggest is that if you want to know what French people (from France) are like, perhaps you should visit there. The women are not hair, and unbathed.. They might be rude and quite snobby, but they are not dirty apes. Some of the finest looking women in the world come from that area of Europe. France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland.. Dude you are crazy to knock the women from those areas.

French speaking is a whole other ball game.. Now you are including south America, the Caribian, some Eropeans.. Heck, French is spoken all over the world.. Even creole French from the good ole US of A.

Frankly, my impression of France (both times I've been there) was that people wer polite and decent. They didn't marinade about in perfume, well groomed, and generally decent people. I can say quite frankly, anywhere I've travelled, if you make the effort to try to speak to people in their own language, it goes a long way... Unless you think English is actually American... then, there's a problem.

As for the Lance Armstrong thing: They're keeping tests, and they are improving testing regimens.

If Lance was doping, and he gets caught even after the fact, I say toss all the wins. If the IOC can f--k over Ben Johnson and hand over medals that Carl Lewis DIDN'T WIN, and only got away with because he was getting better masking drugs, then Armstrong can take it in the rectum as well.

I hope you jest, if not then.
Your retarded.
Tour De France /= IOC
What that logic has to do with anything, or moreover any of your logic has to do with anything is beyond me, lol.

I know that, but it's professional sport versus Amatuer sport... both have doping testing regimens.

If you are caught doping in the Olympics you lose your medals and your amatuer standing, if you're in a professional sport (like hockey, baseball football or, yes, even cycling), you should have your records stricken... there is no doubt about this.

My question: what if it were a Kenyan that won and the American contingent got all pissy?

Give it up. If they hold the test specimens and it's found out he was doping, he didn't win fair and square. Otherwise let them go back on that drug that caused most users to drop dead of a heart attack @ 30.
