Man j body owners have it pretty bad but it does'nt really make sense why my car is ridiculed for being so slow and whatnot. Yet the Civic Si's and other slower cars are hailed higher than mine. Is it not awesome that my cavalier will wax your Si with more weight, less power and 2,000 rpms less?
Sincerely,
Disgruntled Cavalier 0wner
You get "dissed" because it's just a cavalier. They aren't fast and weren't meant to be. I'll admit that some have some nice power (for what they are), but in the end that are just semi-dependable economy cars.. nothing more. As for the other small car owners.. they are just picking on you because they are insecure about their pen.. err.. car size as well.
It took me a while to understand that my car wasn't a hotrod and I looked pretty stupid trying to pretend it was one.
We have a car that drops by about $5000 when we drive off the lot... Thats says it all right there...
If you want performance, power and reliability, then prepare to shell out about $12,000 more for a "good" car like a Mazda or a Nissan.

ahaahahhhahahaha good? ahahahahahahahahhahaah try working on one of those jap pieces of crap or buy parts when it breaks.

Nissan and mazda are a LOT more reliable companies then GM, LOL
Lets see how many times an RX-8, Mazada 3-6, Altima 2.3-3.5 break down compared to a Cavalier or Cobalt...
if the cavalier breaks the parts wont be as much as the Import

EXACTLY!! if you own an ECONOMY car, it's built for one thing - gas mileage and dependability. the latter is questionable with the third gen cavaliers, but they still have incredible gas mileage compared to larger cars.

ummmmmmm...yyeeaahh...
a buddy of mine has an RX8, and he's working on his 4th tranny. EVERYTHING in the car is stock. don't stick an RX8 in with those family cars - it's not, and was
never meant to be.
furthermore, i wouldn't own a nissan OR a Mazda over a toyota, especially for a daily vehicle. toyota's reliability is still top in the market.

yeah this morning i had a little dispute with some guy who looked and talked like J-ROC driving the new style civic hatch.... Mind you it looked nice... was clean had the typical "sponsor" stickers on it.
after a little driving dispute that started with me pulling out of the gas station... he was a fair distance away.. so i thought i could make it.... next thing i notice that @ss sped up as i was pulling out... so i stoped about not even halfway and he passed me giving what i thought was the finger..... i pull out and catch that little prick give him the finger.
we are at a light and the war begins... cusing at me about the finger.. then i told him that he did it first.. he said that he didn't.. then continues calling my car my moms car with Canadian tire rims and all that jazz... i told him that he was a dick for speeding up to not let me in ..... but the best part was.. and i know i shouldn't say this next part here but.... he says all this @!#$ too me and yet he couldn't even pass me... or keep up to me when we got to the lights
it wasn't the DOHC V-tec.... well i didn't see the logo for it anyway
looking back i should have just shruged it off and not bother catching up to that litte wannabe.... but i was in bad mood to begin with... gas was $1.06 CDN a Liter
not everybodies going to like you... so don't waste your time caring. import v. domestic is the fight, which is stupid cause domestics are better

Not that I'm a fan of the Civic, but one reason you may be getting flak is that what you describe is nonsense. A heavier car with less power cannot beat a lighter car with more power, given similar traction and driver skill. It's impossible, so get over yourself.
Niether car is "fast" per say, so why don't you just do the things to your car that make you like it more and not worry about what other econo-box drivers say? They are in the same boat, talking @!#$ about cars that make less than 200HP. Crap, I don't talk @!#$ about my car and it makes 270HP.. The fact is, unless you're making 300+ HP you've got dick all to brag about. Even at 300 to 400 hp you still are minor league when it comes to racing. I suggest being quiet and enjoying the real races (on TV or at the trackside).

that situation is possible depending on the powerband.
OK, I'll give you that if one car has a nice wide band "in the power" and the other is a small spike, but that wouldn't really be a more powerfull car then would it?
I get your point. No tuned car should have a tiny spike of power though.

A couple of mistruths explained:
Any car can be a "hot rod" iof enough money is dropped into it.
and no matter how "bad" you think your/someone elses' car is--it could ALWAYS be worse.

RX-8 on his 4th transmission...? My LeSabre only had 2 transmissions, and I pushed that thing for 164,000 miles before I sold it!!! Either he has a broken car from the getgo, or he just drives the thing like a jerk, lol
Cavalier's may be a lot cheaper to fix, but when it compare it to a Nissan or something like that, it gets ridiculous. Say a Nissan breaks down once every few years. The total of that will still be cheaper then how many repairs will have to go into a Cavalier.
being an owner of both a z24 and a civic of the same year. the honda has been wayyy more reliable. yes the z24 was faster but my civic is an EX not Si, only like 125hp. depreciation value says everything. hondas hold their value cuz they are better quality. thats the bottom line. sorry. and whatever u wanna say about an RX-8..its a frickin ford!
all fords are rotary powered....
The only rotary powered Mazda's are the twin turbo RX-7 and the RX-8 as far as I know, lol
My ex-g/f bought a Focus, and that sure as hell isn't rotary powered, LOL

nope. sorry.
no modification possible could make any car post 1957 a hot rod.
rat rods, gassers, muscle cars, all different, cant be done by anyone with anything.

I stand corrected.
My point was, you can make anything lay a patch of flaming rubber or so resilliant to the test of time that it will still be an opreational museum piece come 3000AD if you had the cash.

no - the RX8 tranny is weak.

you're a rather...unknowledgeable...person. everything in the RX line, from the RX2 to the RX8 has had a rotary. so has the Cosmo and the VERY rare Japan-only rotory truck. i'm probably one of the few on this site who knows that car/engine rather well...so definitely educate yourself before you yoink "facts" out of your nether regions

ok then.

Well, s*it, god forbid I don't know what kind of engine an ENTIRE line of cars had... I was under the impression that the RX-7 and RX-8 only had them, and thats why they stood out.
