Just a debate for the heck of it. And no, not about cars
If you had a choice, would you rather have the body of a body builder, but be realitily weak and uncordinated, or be on the smaller side, chicken armed, no real defination (but not fat) but be realitily strong and extremely cordinated?
Personally, i would rather have the body builder's body.

Guess to defend my answer now.
I would rather have the body builder look because outward appearance does matter. I work in a business field, tall, well dress, fit people do get more respect. When trying to pick up ladies, obvious advantage. Maybe it's just because I’ve been behind a desk for the last couple of years, but honestly how often does strength or coordination really play in life?
Generally you will be more respected in almost every aspect of life.
Just on a side note, I started this because I was just thinking about my roommate and I. He is a weight lifter and is 6’2 235lb ish and has a lower percent of body fat than I do. (I’m 5’10, 170lbs) We’ve been best friends for ever and we are highly competitive in almost anything we do. While he is twice as strong as me (I actually lifted with him last week and everything he did was twice of what I was able to do) and can run a whole lot farther/faster than I can. If the sport doesn’t involve mostly physical strength, I normally come out just ahead. (such as I win 3 out of 5 games of racquetball, win by a stroke or two in golf, win by a touchdown in touch football, yada yada yada) Even though I am a better athlete, and we are so competitive, I would switch body types with him in a heart beat.

lol, not really, I just don't have the genetic makeup to reach his size. I can get (and I’ve had) a nice sculpted body (following his exact workout routine), but unless I plan on living in the gym, and spending thousands on protein stuff and make it my complete life, it’s just not in my genes to be able to bulk up his size.

How about a combination of both. I'm a little dude, 5'9" 160 lbs. but I'm cut up more then any of my buddies outside the Marine Corps, run farther and faster then most Marines and can carry the same amount as the bigger guys and don't fall out of anything. And as far as the gym, 45 minutes a day is all I spend there including my warm-up and cool-down runs and I've managed to put on 15 lbs. in 7 months. No you probably won't ever be as big as your buddy, but there is a certain size where you are too big and just look ridiculous.

Its not just being big but being in shape, Trust me you dont have to live at the gym to be in shape and to look good. All you have to do is..........................work out for at least 45mins like SAINT said!!
I'm not worried about being in shape, i can get my 6 pack back in a matter of weeks if i really wanted to. But this thread isn't about being in shape... its which one you would rather be...

I'll stick with my little bit of both, I don't need to be a big guy, 10 more lbs. is all I'll ever want or need. I'm still strong enough to do everything asked of me, and can run a 300 PFT so I'll kepe my happy medium

In the middle. I'd rather not be the biggest guy in the room, but definately not the smallest.
But if it came down to it, I'd rather be the bigger guy. Like you said, appearances matter in reality.
Much rather be athletic. Appearance only means as much as you make it mean. Maybe in your case where it is a business environment. But still, how long is that "good" looks going to last. You ask my oppinion, body builders look pretty ficken gross. I am 5'11 138 lbs. I am SKINNY. Although my body fat is basically non existant because I played hockey hardcore for 16 years. I have tried to gain a little muscle, and I could if I wanted to.
Although I dont think you can consider me a weak skinny person. I really dont know what this means, but most people tell me that I am the strongest and buffest skinny person they have ever seen. At one point I had an 8 pack abs, not anymore since I stopped lifting and playing hockey. I will admit that my muscles were very cut, but it wasnt somthing you could see if I had my shirt on. And I will tell you that there was never ever a point where having an 8 pack and cut muscles helped me. Obviously girls like the muscles, and I did get complements, even though 138 lbs sounds to skinny to get complements. But I didnt have any more girls then than I do now.
But really my best example is this... First, I hate bragging so dont take it as I am bragging please. Since I started playing hockey a 4 years old, I was always one of the better kids, I moved up in age groups a year early for two age groups. At the time I started playing travel hockey, I was the captain of my team (except for the first year I guess). I was always leading the team in goals, by far. Almost every year I exceded 40 or 50, depending upon how many games. Toward the end of my "career" I was exceeding 60. Now being this small in hockey is usally a bad thing. The little guys dont make it far, especially in older age groups. For some reason though, I rarely, and I mean exteremely rarely ever got manhandled by someone else. I was on the bottom end of the list on total weight for our team yet people knew me as the one who could hit the hardest, and hold my own the best on the ice. The only reason for this is because of agility and cordination. I could move quickly to get where I needed, I was by far the fastest skater, And I could say on my feet extremely well. A lot of people seem to have this idea that being bigger and stronger means you are more powerful. And that is competely wrong. Agility and cordination is by far superior in nearly every aspect. And look only stay for so long, there really isnt a point, we all end up in the same place when we die, your not better because you look better.

I'm 6'2" and about 280... I don't work out a lot (stress fractures on my ankles, I'm lucky to be walking), and I'm not interested in being ripped and all that. Why? Don't need to be.
I'm not going to get into it, but I already spend over half my day at home reading... I'd rather be educated than strong. Plus, I'm not out dogging it for the women (LTR), so that's no big deal, and basically, f*ck what anyone else thinks I look like.
I've been a brute, and I've been skinny, and I'm happy how I am.

i think i would rather have the brains than the muscles because if some guy that spends every minute of his life in the gym starts fighting it takes more of a man to walk away...(in my opinion of course) i guess it also depends on your lifestyle also if your a cpu programmer what do you need all the muscle for you need the brains....but on the other hand if your a boxer or an athlete you need to be in shape

I rather be skinny but coordinated and strong.
I can kind of say that is how I am now, and that was my goal anyways. My buddy is lifting to get mass while I do it to keep tone and get quick. I do a lot of boxing and endurance exercises along with a ton of mid section work outs.
Sometimes I think it will be nice to turn around and go for mass but I like being the smaller guy out of the group.
