Ok, I'm not a baseball fan nor am I a "yankee" hater, but why in the hell does God Bless America need to be played during the 7th inning stretch of every focking game??
Yes, I understand that America is a different country after 9/11, but the line must be drawn somewhere. I'm glad America is such a patriotic country and I have nothing against playing the song God Bless America, but it should be played appropriately.
Sing the anthem at the beginning of the game, and lets switch back to tradition, lets get some "Take me back to the ballgame" going during the 7th inning stretch.
Baseball isn't about politics, war, peace, violence, oil, etc. Baseball is about one thing, baseball!! Lets bring back the "fun" mentality in baseball and get rid of all the other BS!
If I go to a baseball game, I want to sing about cracker jacks and peanuts, that's it!
Don't ever forget 9/11 and don't ever stop being patriotic, but for the love of god, don't let 9/11 consume our whole lives! <br>

they do both at most games during the 7th inning stretch, but the TV broadcasts usually stay on air long enough to show God Bless America, right after that they usually go into Take me out to the Ball Game (but you don't see that during commercials)

it'll take more than just getting rid of "God Bless America" from the 7th inning stretch to do that... sports havn't been about just playing the game and having fun for decades now. sad to say.
although, i gotta say that i disagree with wanting to X that song from baseball... after all baseball is supposed to be America's past time. what better time to be patriotic (other than voting of course)?

How is god bless america patriotic? So since Im not partial to this particular "patriotic" song, I am not patriotic? Hell, will admit to being non patriotic lol. But still. If baseball is supposed to be america's favorite pasttime... one would think a song alienating at least half of the country and calling it "patriotic" is a no no.
On the topic of baseball... how come the winning team always thanks their god for the win... Is their god up there on the edge of his seat watching the game? And does he somehow dislike the losing team? always bugs me. Celebrities winning awards do the same thing. Annoying lol. <br>

But yeah, i'm not much into baseball (america's pasttime because it takes forever to complete a game) except that when the cubbies when the apocalypse is upon us (hence why i root for them). But if the want to play God Bless America, let them. more than likely, if i was waching on TV, i'd turn the channel. Or, if i was there at the game, that would be when i go out and get another beer. <br>

Personally I'm no big fan of baseball, because it's so damned slow (it's like watching paint dry while looking outside once in a while to see 2 dogs going at it)... but sports isn't the place to wave a national flag... rightly or wrongly. I mean, you don't hear "Maple Leaf Forever" at hockey game intermissions? Do you hear "God save the Queen" during cricket match tea breaks? How about viva Brazillia in soccer matches? No... Why? People don't see playing a sport as a patriotic thing, and they leave that kind of ideal at the door...
Unless of course, it's Canada vs. the USA in World Cup Hockey... then I have but 3 words that are as immutable as they are pervasive:
