Nice to see that the use of torture isn't condoned, and the penalty is heavy handed.

heavy handed, i hope that's sarcasm
NNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!
ME?
Sarcastic??
Perish the thought, oh Captain, my captain!
Boy, I can be an amazing bastard sometimes.

She had to have signed a plea to testify against someone because we get in more trouble than that for a DUI.
Princess: that's my thought on it. Rolling over and copping a plea...
/me shakes head and bites tongue.
And I screwed up the the bold part... should have been a Size tag, not a font tag... I'm so f-ing drunk...

Figures it's the Army, I'm not going to elaborate on my personal feelings here, it's not the place.
Like Princess said she definitely copped a plea, but they are probably leaving out parts of the punishment, such as restricition and hard labor for a period of time, usually 45-60 days, as well as her exact loss of pay. That does sound like a punishment for Battalion Level NJP, which is below even the lowest Court-Martial.
Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home
NJP?
Military types and their lingo... you're almost as bad as cops or computer engineers
Or.... *gasp* Computer engineers that work with cops!!!!

Ahh..
it's NPC in RCMP-ese (non-pejoritive censure), If you get a departmental censure you're screwed, that's a one-way ticket to dishonourable discharge.

well to bust her from corporal to specialist had to have been a field grade article 15
for those of you who don't know, its basically a slap on the wrist by a colnel, no bigged
funny thing is that a corporal is the same pay grade as a specialist, so really they did nothing major to her, except the pay dock she still makes the same money.
personally i think its messed up how the abu gharib thing got so big and they got punishd so bad, yet this girl gets let off with a warning really

They ALL should be given an LOR and a reduction in rank. BUT of course you know at least now he cant talk in court.

she only received an A15, she actually went from sergeant (e-5) to specialist or corporal, both E-4, don't really see letting her keep the corporal and still be considered a junior NCO after the NJP, since we all know what that is now
. Yeah she rolled over, big surprise, but there is not really a need for a big media blitz on soldiers beating on pow's right now. best to wait and see how it pans out and then claim coverup by the government.
[napoleon]gosh, you bunch of frickin idiots[/napoleon]
You seriously think that her rough housing an enemy is what caused that man's death? Don't think so.
O noes!
well it sure wasn't marksmanship.

"I just want to apologize to my mother for making her go through this to you for being in your court," she tearfully told a military judge.
forget the person she roughed up... she feels bad for making her mom sit through a court session.
Roughed up? It said she pushed him against a wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG not the wall!!!!!!!!!! She probably rolled over on someone but seriously from what it says she pushed him against a wall. That happens in schools every day and it doesnt make national news. I can see it now. Kid pushed against wall parents seek the death penalty. Oh wait we won't see that because it wasnt a US military member that did it. Not saying that it was right just a little over blown. I'm sorry but if I have someguy locked up in a room that has spent the last 4 years trying to kill me I might get a little aggravated him at him but thats just me I guess.

Punishment fits the crime in my opinion.
no it doesn't becase in the other cases of prisoner abuse they were given a harsher punishment. prisoner abuse is prisoner abuse, it shouldn't be a lesser penalty because it was lesser abuse. now the military is giving a message that abuse is ok as long as its lightly done abuse. if they fried that girl for a minor case of abuse, then others would think twice

mrgto: you think al-queda would treat you better? Who exactly is on the corect "moral" side of that incident?
If a guard in a prison here did half that stuff without cause, they'd be in Protective custody. after their trial.
Transeat In Exemplum: Let this stand as the example.
If prisoner abuse is prisoner abuse I say the second you know you're in trouble put a couple rounds in the guys head to save your replacement the trouble. Maybe I have a different view than everyone else but whatever. Someone could bash the skulls in of every POW we have in custody and I could care less.

Hootieman, I see you're in the military, but due to your location, I'm gonna guess that you're in the Air Force. Now since your in the Air Force you don't understand the discipline needed for us on the ground. It is entirely different on the ground then it is for the Air and Sea side of the war, you have to be fair and you have to punish little incidents as hard as you would larger incidents. I'm not saying that Disrespect should be punished as hard as Prisoner Abuse, but all disrespect should be punished the same just as all Prisoner Abuse should be punished the same.
You can't pop a couple of rounds into a prisoner, because then you get charged with Prisoner Abuse and probably Murder, so now you get the death penalty. Now I haven't found a Marine that has a different attitude, but we're not going to act upon those feelings, because we're trained better then that.
It really is an entirely different world when you deal with the ground side of a war, and there are a lot of different things. Just like you deal with things differently on the air side we deal with things a lot differently on the ground side

if i was gettin shot at by people then later had them as prisoners i would have a hard time not hurting them
