Insanity or right-wing terrorism: What's the difference?
Thursday, March 11, 2010 2:54 PM on j-body.org
Joseph Stack’s final act, deliberately crashing his plane into an IRS building in Austin, Texas was, first of all, a human tragedy: Stack dove off the edge into homegrown terrorism, people were killed, and other people lost loved ones. But in cultural and political terms, the attack has been like a sudden lightning strike, creating lots of opinionated noise, and illuminating the nooks, crannies and hidey-holes from which a variety of rightwing nuts have scurried to voice support for Stack’s views — and even his murderous actions.

Facebook fan pages sprang up, calling Stack “a true American hero,” and even comparing dead IRS employees to British soldiers during the American Revolution. Rightwing extremists popped up across the internet, with one woman asserting that “if I were in that building when Joe struck it, I would have been honored to die for a good cause.” And just in case this blog post seems like some lefty blaming the right for everything, consider that the GOP’s new hero, Sen. Scott Brown, told FoxNews that Stack’s actions could be a sign of how frustrated voters are.

It remains to be seen whether or not the media will settle on the word “terrorism” to describe Stacks’ actions, or if the country will come to terms with how dangerously crazy some of the right’s anti-everything rhetoric has become. I’m not directly blaming Stack’s terrorist attack on FoxNews or the Tea Party crowd; but it’s no secret that overheated rhetoric, goofball conspiracy theories and exaggerated claims of “tyranny” and “oppression” can fire up the, um, less stable among us.

Remember last year when a federal report begun under the Bush administration was released, noting the rising danger of rightwing violence? Conservatives reacted by claiming the Obama White House was out to get them, and ratcheting up their rhetoric to evermore-heated levels. Don’t expect the right to engage in any self-reflection as a result of Stack’s attack, though; that would be playing right into the hands of the socialists who are out to enslave us all through their Kenyan dictator, right?

Just one more question: which country does Dick Cheney think we should invade as a response to this latest terrorist attack?

LOL. You're as desperate as you try to paint everyone you pigeon-hole into "right-wing extremism" as being.

I await an actual counterpoint...perhaps you could present an equal amount of left-wing terrorists to back up your weak assertion?

Just google "left wing terrorism" and find out for yourself. although not as active in the past decade, these things come in cycles.

Please, let's give credit where credit is due. This is an article from "Creative Loafing.com, authored by a fellow named John Grooms

Mr Blooms is an anti-conservative columnist/ blogger....and a featured guest on TheProgressivePulse.com

Bill, this is a biased article, written by a biased man, published on a biased website. Therefore, regardless of what he is saying, I must follow your lead, and write him off as biased and therefore irrelevant.

No, gosh no, lol. It's all about counterpoint...and a little subversion. I wanted to see what Quick would say when he thought these were my words. I got what i wanted

I have to give Scotta credit...he figured it out fater than I gave the righties credit for! I presumed it would take longer. I was sure to use the exact title to make it easily Google-able

Nonetheless, the guy does make some good points. I followed his leads on Facebook and the like, and Quick was WAAAY off the mark on accusing this Stack fella of being anti-conservative. But, I called him on that already. This was just a bit of nose-rubbage-in-poo for old Quickie!

why do the crazies have to be defined as right or left, can't we just define them as being crazy?

LMAO. You seriously need to get a life. Do you realize that I hadn't even posted in here in a while, but you created this thread to rub my nose? Your immaturity is amazing, and hilarious. Go ahead an fool yourself into thinking my lack of posting in this forum had anything to do with you winning any arguments. I simply have better things to do than waste much of my time arguing with someone in their late 40's who spends large amounts of time fighting over the internet, to the point of getting banned. I'd tell you to grow up, but at this point, I think you're beyond that possibility.

More fail. I didn't accuse Stack of anything. I pointed out that you're desperately trying to smear and pigeon-hole people who you've disagreed with. This latest post is your admission of how hard you're trying. The sad thing is that you actually think you're successful, when in fact you're simply showing yourself to be an obsessed fool. Carry on.

Let us clear something up: Who gets to decide that a guy is right wing?

Would the columbine shooters have been considered "left wing" nutjobs?
Are only "right wingers" anti-IRS?

Or is attaching the term "right-winger" to individuals who break the law, just part of a disorganized effort to subconsciously associate the word "right" with being bad?

Much like how the word "fundamentalist" automatically makes most people think of something negative or violent.

Pure win. Making you scream in pain this way is just fun. I can't help enjoying it! Stop back again in a few more weeks, and we'll see how I can make you dance on a string again.

By the way...you STILL haven't come back to that thread where you called Stark a left-wing terrorist. I doubt you will now, lol!

They typically define themselves by virtue of their stated agendas. In the aftermath, they are further defined by those who claim the crazy was championing their cause (see first post above).

Not going to read all the stuff posted above. I just need to say this.....
Read his posted suicide note he is as right wing as Obama, Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. How the hell can you compare that sick bastard to any political party.

I let this posting sit for a while, jesus, if I had known the ignorance the Op had when he said that, I may as well have kicked a kitten... makes as much sense.

I love those who feel compelled to comment on threads they don't even read.

Quick, you must really enjoy associating yourself with this brain trust of Mensa members, lol! I dunno, perhaps I miss the point...they DO make it easy for you to feel like "the smart one" of the group. You might be onto something here after all...

Ironically, it's because jihadist Muslim terrorists are referred to as the 'ultra conservatives' of their religion/politics. And consequently, use of the terms: "right wing", "far right", etc, is supposed to invoke subconscious distaste or loathing.

Much lime the term "neo-conservative", makes one think of "neo Nazi". Even though it simply means new conservative.

Right wing doesn't mean that in the country. Right wing = conservative with is usually republican.

SNDSGOOD, the trench coat thing was stupid as hell. IT wasnt just that school that banned them, I was in high school when it happened and I wore a trench coat all the time, they told me I couldnt wear it anymore and I was pissed as all hell. I stopped wearing it around school but they couldn't stop me from wearing to school and putting it in my locker. If I wanted to bring a machine gun to school and start killing people I wouldnt even need the coat, I'de have a f-ing machine gun. Its the same stupid logic, one person does it and the idiots make some kind of connection that isnt there.

i know it wasn't just that school, it was allot of schools. heck my old high school banned book bags., kids have to carry everything around open. no bags allowed.

but thats my point. someone looks at a crazy person. finds something they are against and don't like and that becomes the entire reason of why someone went crazy.

It reminds me of something at work, we have to wear kevlar now when sweeping the floor because some idiot managed to cut himself sweeping dust off the floor. (Kevlar is worn when carrying glass). I told a co worker that I was gunna find a way to hurt myself while taking a crap just to see if they try to make us wear all that gear in the bathroom LOL.

For some damn reason, the average person cant tell the difference between a localized incident and everyday likely hood. Personally, I'm getting tired of a few tards ruining everything for the rest of us.

that allot of the problems these days, 20 years ago someone does something stupid and everyone looks at the guy and says " man , your an idiot"

now a days someone does something stupid and people go " well that shouldn't hapen, lets setup a task force to understand what happened and how to fix the problem and implement a saftey report and new regulations to make sure this never happens again" and now you have guys sweeping with kevlar gloves.

Thats scary, I swear to god I've heard the safety department say the exact same thing more then once LOL

What really sucks is because our injury numbers have gone way down since we laid off so many people and where slow now, and the safety department is stupid enough that they actually think there "safety rules" are the reason for it....... I really hate those people.

Are you still confused about this? I can provide numerous references to illustrate how many far right wingnuts not only continue to perform as well as promote acts of domestic terrorism, they are also championing pure treason.
