Subject: An Obituary Worth Reading contributed by Mr. Robert Hennsler of Las Vegas, NV
An Obituary printed in the London Times - Interesting and sadly rather true.
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim
Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Because you're apparently doing so much more than I am to help fix the economy.

4 years ago would have put M-1 Erma Jean at the wise old age of...16? I highly doubt he was immersed in much more than biology homework and acne.

So you don't believe that a 16 year old might be informed and paying attention to what's going on in the country? I can tell you that I was paying attention to politics since I was about 14. Once I started working, and paying taxes, I started realizing that it might behoove me to pay attention to the people who take my money.
Also, if he was 16 four years ago, what's that got to do with now?

Where to start. Lets see at the ripe old age of 11 I was having political debates with not only my peers but my teachers as well. So I was more well informed than most children at that age. At sixteen I paid a decent amount of attention to what was going on and how the economy worked as well as taxes and government. I had to (first off I had a thirst for it) secondly well that was just a part of my school as the students there and the way the school functioned.

Now my comment well let me see. The only mindless thing was saying "I know you don't", My comment was in a retort to you complaining about someone complaining, discussing and sharing a joke, as well as societal observation, and the fact that you in essence ignore statements that people post about the topics of today.

In fact your own as well as Frosty's actions in this post proved it over again. I slightly remember people's conversations on the boards (sigs help with that) and can say that you act as if everything will get better and really don't understand how the economy works and go on acting as you did before the "crisis".

Now what do I do for the economy.
1) I don't spend all my money I save it. Isn't this how the economy started to downturn in the first place? No one was buying anything, everyone was saving everything they have. Businesses can't profit if no one is buying their stuff. Please explain to me, political prodigy, how this helps the economy?
2) I invest my money and encourage others to save and invest.
3) I have been paying income taxes since I was at least 12 how long have you? 16, if you must know. So I'm supposed to be impressed by this? Congrats, you had a paper route. Next point
4) I heavily care about what the government does along with the private sector. Caring will always make you better than the apathetic.
5) I discuss this topic with many people of many different statures and different titles form student to senators and accountants. By senators you mean emailing them your views on the economy, only to be blocked by their spam filter, right?

Actually it was a lighthearted joke about Chris making 4 new topics. Congratulations for over-reacting.

You're right. Because if everyone went into panic mode, we'd be a lot worse off. The economy could get worse, it could get better. I live well within my means, have several backup plans if I were to lose my job (and I haven't yet, knock on wood) so no, I'm not overly worried about myself at this point in time. This could change in an instant, I know this well.
